Severe Weather Road Maintenance Schedule for 12.23.22 & 12.24.22

​

Island Creek Township will have three trucks on the roads at 5:00 am Friday morning and will be back out on Saturday depending on the road conditions. If you need to reach the Township, please call any of the three Trustees (phone numbers are listed on the Board of Trustees tab) as crews will not be in the garage to take calls.

Hazardous travel conditions are due to a flash freeze, snow, wind gusts in excess of 40mph and wind chills below zero.

Please use extreme caution if you must be on the roads and allow plenty of room for our trucks to safely clear the roads.

Island Creek Township residents will see new road signs that have been placed throughout the Township!

​

Island Creek Township applied for an ODOT Township Sign Grant in April of 2021. The top 300 townships in Ohio meeting the criteria below were eligible to apply for signs, posts and hardware up to $50,000.00 to systematically improve the signage in their townships.

​

Township-wide Crash Criteria:

1. When a township has been identified as having a higher than average crash rate across the entire township system, and

2. The township has not previously received funding under this grant program.

​

Island Creek Township received $35,158.19 in signs, posts and hardware and must arrange to install the signs received.

The Board of Trustees of Island Creek Township have called a Special Meeting for Monday, February 14, 2022 at 9:00 AM to appoint a Trustee for the vacancy on the Board.

​

Vacancy seems like such a harsh word to use as we mourn our Board member.

The Board of Island Creek Township, employees, and all who knew him, are saddened by the loss of Mark Clark, Trustee.

​

Mark had served the Township for 20 years, and was recently re-elected to serve again.

Unfortunately with this loss, comes work that must be completed. The remaining Trustees will follow the Ohio Revised Code to fill the untimely vacancy by the loss of Mark.

​

The following is the wording of the first paragraph of Ohio Revised Code 503.24

Vacancy in Township Office:

​

If there is a vacancy by reason of the nonacceptance, death, or removal of a person chosen to an office in any township at the regular election, or if there is a vacancy from any other cause, the board of Township Trustees shall appoint a person having the qualifications of an elector to fill such vacancy for the unexpired term or until a successor is elected.
